NIPR President Meets With ICPC Chairman, Advocates Persuasion In Corruption Fight
On Tuesday, July 13, 2024, the President and Chairman of Council of NIPR, Dr. Ike Neliaku led a high-powered delegation to the Chairman of Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission
(ICPC), Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu (SAN) at the Commission's Headquarters in Abuja where he advocated for the use of persuasion in fighting corruption.
Mr. President intimated the ICPC boss with the efforts the Institute has put in place towards boosting the country's reputation, including the Anti-corruption and Consumer Protection Hub, one of the hubs NIPR
has established.
"All we are saying is, there is another way to fight corruption. We have to use persuasion to now fight corruption. Nothing succeeds more than the conscience. Usman Dan Fodio said 'conscience is an open
wound. Only the truth can heal it'", he noted.
He said that time has come to combine prosecution, persuasion and appeal to educate Nigerians on the damage corruption has done the nation.
The NIPR boss therefore sought the partnership of ICPC in the Institute's Anti-corruption and Consumer Protection Hub, Reputation Perception Index (RPI).
While expressing readiness to partner with NIPR in its Anti-corruption and Consumer Protection Hub, the ICPC Chairman said that such partnership will avail both organisations opportunity to craft messages in native languages that will appeal to the conscience of the masses.
He also said it will assist in publicising so many achievements the Commission has recorded in saving the nation billions of Naira from corruption.
