WPRF-Abuja 2026; Etsu Nupe Becomes Royal Ambassador
In a significant development for the biggest public relations gathering in the world, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, CFR, the Etsu Nupe and Chairman of the Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, has accepted to be the Royal Ambassador for the World Public Relations Forum (WPRF) Abuja, 2026.
The respected traditional ruler, who also serves as Coordinating Chairman of the National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership with the traditional institution, describing it as a strategic way to highlight Nigeria's cultural heritage on the world stage.
"Bringing the entire world to Nigeria is no small task; it's a huge responsibility that needs support from everyone," Alhaji Abubakar said.
"I will be committed to doing everything I can to make this event a success when it takes place in November 2026."
The commitment came during a visit by senior members of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) to the traditional ruler's residence. The delegation, led by NIPR President, Chairman of the Governing Council Dr Ike Neliaku, expressed gratitude for the Etsu Nupe's support during the recent National Unveiling of WPRF 2026 in Abuja.
He commended the traditional ruler's character and community impact, noting his widespread appeal across different sectors of society.
"We've travelled across this country and met many people over the years. When we find individuals who value humanity and want to make a positive difference, we celebrate them. That is one of the main reasons we're here today, to appreciate you for who you are and what you represent," Dr Neliaku said.
The NIPR delegation included several distinguished members who each took time to appreciate the traditional leader for his partnership. Among them were HRH Dr. Tayo Hatsrup, former Council Member; Dr Suleiman Haruna, Chairman of WPRF Abuja 2026; Council Member Ahmad Sajoh; Council Member Olubunmi Badejo; Prof. Okay Ikechukwu; Alhaji Kudu Abubakar; and Dr. Ebere Emeribe.
The World Public Relations Forum is expected to attract communications professionals and cultural ambassadors from around the globe, providing a platform for Nigeria to showcase its traditions and strengthen international relationships.
