NIPR Inaugurates ACCP Hub
The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 officially inaugurated its Anti-Corruption and Consumer Protection (ACCP) Hub which seeks to adopt strategic communication to reduce incidences of corruption across public and private sector in the country.
With membership drawn from NIPR, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) and National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB), NIPR President, Dr. Ike Neliaku during the inauguration in Abuja charged the Hub to approach the assignment as an opportunity to secure the future of unborn children.
"NIPR found it necessary to come up with a strategy that can be adopted to communicate the challenge of corruption and protection of consumers in a manner that anybody who understands the message very well, will equally understand the risk, the danger, the trauma, the evil and indeed everything that needs to be done to bring corruption to the barest minimum", he stated.
He added, "One man can ruin the lives of a million persons because of what he steals from you through corruption".
In his remarks, the Chairman of the ACCP Hub, Dr. Ahmad Sajoh said corruption does not only happen when money exchanges hands but when consumers are short-changed.
He said prosecution alone is not enough to fight corruption, adding that anti-corruption messages could be passed through the instrumentality of home movies.
