NIPR Abia Sustains IWD Momentum with High-Impact Media Advocacy
The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Abia State Chapter on Tuesday continued its activities marking this year’s International Women’s Day (IWD) with a special media engagement.
The programme, held at Flow 94.9 FM, Umuahia focused on the theme: 'Communicate to Balance: Gain Equity and Empower Women', emphasizing the pivotal role of strategic communication in promoting gender equity and advancing women’s empowerment across society.
Chairman of the Chapter, Onyinye Ralph-Nwachukwu, who also serves as Vice Chairman of the National Planning Committee for the IWD celebrations, participated in the national events held in Abuja, reinforcing Abia’s active involvement at the national level, PRO Abia Chapter, Promise Uzoma Okoro said in a statement.
The radio session featured key members of the Chapter’s leadership, including the Vice Chairman, Oluchi Iyke-Odionyenfe, the Secretary, Ori Innocent Onuoha, and the Public Relations Officer, Promise Uzoma Okoro.
In a related development, Chairman of the Chapter, Onyinye Ralph-Nwachukwu, at its March monthly meeting which took place on Tuesday at Roots Café, Umuahia encouraged members to embrace unity, professionalism, and active participation, noting that the strength of the Chapter lies in shared values of tolerance, mutual respect, and teamwork.
According to Ralph-Nwachukwu, a Fellow of the Institute, sustaining these values is key to strengthening the voice and relevance of public relations practice in Abia State, the PRO, Promise Uzoma Okoro said in a statement.
"She also emphasized the importance of continuous professional development, reminding members that excellence in practice comes from intentional growth and active engagement.
"The meeting featured updates from various subcommittees, alongside discussions on welfare initiatives aimed at enhancing members’ wellbeing, reflecting the Chapter’s people-centered approach.
"Looking ahead, the Chairman drew attention to two key national events, namely the NPRWeek and the World Public Relations Forum (WPRF), encouraging members to register and plan to participate, as these platforms offer valuable opportunities for learning, networking, and visibility", Okoro stated.
