NIPR Promises to Work with Defence Headquarters on Reputation, Others

The leadership of Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) says it is willing to work with the nation's Defence Headquarters on critical areas, including reputation and perception management, capacity building and community engagement.

The President and Chairman of Council of NIPR, Dr. Ike Neliaku gave this assurance on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 when he led a high-powered delegation of the Institute to Defence Headquarters in Abuja, the nation's capital.

Describing reputation as core asset, Dr. Neliaku lauded the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa for deepening professionalism in the country's armed forces, expressing the Institute's readiness to support in shoring up reputation, drive an enhanced public understanding of the mission of the armed forces and entrench a robust community engagement.

"Nigerian Institute of Public Relations as the body constitutionally charged with the responsibility of managing reputation, we have all that it takes to help the Nigerian armed forces to package what they do.

"We are ready and willing to offer services in building human capacity in the public relations and to help in ensuring that the public understands very clearly the mission that you have set to achieve", the NIPR President told Gen. Musa.

To keep the Chief of Defence Staff abreast, Dr. Neliaku also reeled out many laudable initiatives and programmes the Institute is embarking upon, targeted at nation-building.

They include REBIRTH Nigeria Initiative, National Spokesperson Summit, Sectoral Hubs, Nigeria Reputation Management Group (NRMG), Public Relations and Leadership University (PRLU) expected to take effect September 2026, NIPR TV and radio programmes and host of others.

Receiving the NIPR President and his team, Gen. Musa commended the great work the Institute is doing in promoting understanding among the country's ethnic divides especially through the Citizens Summit which he was earlier briefed on.

He expressed worry that insecurity has festered as a result of poor governance across the federating units which he believes makes some Nigerians vulnerable to financial inducement by terror groups.

While challenging leaders across the country to deliver more dividends of democracy to the masses, Gen. Musa expressed the readiness of the country's armed forces to work with NIPR in raising the bar of national development.

"So we have a lot to do together, and we assure you of all our commitment and our support in every aspect that we can, it is something that is good for us", he noted.
