NIPR President Tasks Young Leaders On Reputation

The President of Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Dr. Ike Neliaku has urged aspiring leaders to cultivate the attitude of upholding their reputation, saying it is a tool that will assist them in building a long-lasting relationship with others.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of PRNigeria Young Communication Fellowship in Abuja on Friday, September 27, 2024 Dr. Neliaku who further described reputation as a core asset called on the cohorts not to allow their reputation to run dry if they want to excel in their life endeavours.

According to the NIPR President, individuals who have consistently built a negative perception in the minds of those around them are usually isolated, urging young Nigerians to always demonstrate the example of integrity, honesty and hard work wherever they find themselves.

"Whatever you are doing in life, never toy with your reputation. Wherever you find yourself, either in an organisation where you are working or elsewhere, never joke with your reputation, because it is your biggest asset", the NIPR boss advised.

He added, "Globally, reputation has become the subject matter. Nobody will do business with you if your reputation is in red, if your reputation is not good, if you are not a person of repute, nobody will want to identify with you.

"Nations, organisations, institutions, are now paying serious attention to subject matter of reputation as a core asset, and you must take it seriously. Genuine investors don't go to nations where reputation is lacking, even as an individual, if your reputation is weak, then your personality is in red".

The cohorts comprise university and polytechnic graduates who began a month-long capacity building training on September 2, 2024, a programme that came to an end on Friday.

PRNigeria is a flagship publication of Economic Confidential, published by the Image Merchant Promotions Limited (IMPR).

While congratulating the Fellows for the discipline and hard work demonstrated during the training, he encouraged them to apply the training in being agents of social change.

The NIPR boss also commended the Managing Director PRNigeria, Yushau Shuaib for the huge investment in providing mentorship for young Nigerians.
